As the morning mist embraced the mountain peaks, we bid farewell to charming Matsumoto. Embarking on the second leg of our adventure, we ventured towards stunning Takayama, a town brimming with tradition and vernacular charm.
Along the picturesque Nakasendo Trail, where Edo-era travelers once tread, we immersed ourselves in the tranquility of the Japanese Alps. As the sun began its descent, we arrived at our destination, welcomed by the warm glow of Takayama Jinya, a grand former government building that whispered tales of the past.
Strolling through the historic streets, lined with preserved houses and quaint shops, we breathed in the ambience of this enchanting town. As the evening sky shimmered with hues of twilight, we indulged in a feast of Hida beef, renowned for its exquisite marbling and flavor – a culinary delight that perfectly complemented our immersion in Takayama’s rich heritage.
